📋 What Is This Site?

Slay the Spire 2 Tier List is an independent community resource providing card rankings, ascension guides, and patch notes for Slay the Spire 2 by Mega Crit. We rank every card from S-tier (must-pick) to D-tier (low impact) across all five character classes: Ironclad, Silent, Regent, Necrobinder, and Defect.

Rankings are based on a combination of competitive play, community feedback, and patch-by-patch analysis. We evaluate cards on their power level, synergy potential, consistency, and win-rate contribution — not just raw numbers. A card that combos with three others and consistently closes out runs will rank higher than a stat-efficient card with no synergy upside.

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mega Crit. All game content, card names, and imagery belong to their respective owners.

🏆 How We Rank Cards

Every card on this tier list is evaluated across the following criteria before being assigned a tier:

S
S-Tier — Game-Winning
Cards that fundamentally change how a run plays out. Always pick unless your deck actively conflicts. These define strategies, enable infinite loops, or provide so much value that passing them up is a rare exception.
A
A-Tier — High Value
Strong generalist cards or powerful niche picks with broad applicability. You will pick these the vast majority of the time. They rarely feel bad and often enable winning conditions.
B
B-Tier — Solid Includes
Reliable cards that earn their slot. Context-dependent — they shine in the right build but feel average in the wrong one. Frequently correct picks, just not automatic.
C
C-Tier — Situational
Cards that require specific synergies or circumstances to perform. You need a reason to pick these. In the right deck they pull their weight; in a generic deck they feel like fillers.
D
D-Tier — Low Impact
Cards that rarely, if ever, justify their inclusion. They may be underpowered, too expensive, or simply outclassed by other options at every stage of the game. Pass unless there is no better option.

Tier placements are updated after every major Mega Crit patch. When a balance change shifts a card's viability, we re-evaluate it in context of the new meta — sometimes a single cost change or stat tweak can move a card multiple tiers.

Our Methodology

Each tier placement reflects manual review, extensive play testing, and community discussion. We synthesize feedback from high-Ascension players, speedrunners, and casual climbers alike, because a card's tier can shift significantly based on what difficulty level you are targeting.

Patch responsiveness is a priority. When Mega Crit releases a balance update, we review affected cards within 48 hours and flag any tier changes. Our patch notes page breaks down exactly what changed and how it affects card rankings.

Have a disagreement with a ranking? We genuinely welcome pushback. The best tier lists are living documents shaped by the community. If you think a card is misranked, email us or leave feedback — well-argued cases have changed placements before.

This is a passion project, not a commercial operation. It exists because the community deserves a well-maintained, up-to-date reference that respects the game's depth. If you find it useful, sharing it is the best support you can give.

📬 Get In Touch

For ranking disputes, patch corrections, or partnership inquiries, reach out through our community channels. The fastest way to get a response is via the Slay the Spire community on Reddit or Discord where we are active members.

We also welcome guest contributors who have deep knowledge of specific classes. If you play a lot of Necrobinder and want to write a deep-dive guide, get in touch.

We do not accept paid placements, sponsored rankings, or affiliate deals that could compromise the integrity of the tier list.
